When is the best time to eat after working out?

Timing Considerations


The traditional advice to eat immediately after exercise has been somewhat modified by recent research:



  • If training fasted or it's been 3+ hours since eating, prioritize post-workout nutrition shortly after exercise

  • If you ate a complete meal 1-2 hours before training, the urgency is reduced

  • For those doing multiple training sessions per day, immediate refueling becomes more critical
